Africans brought with them various instruments and musical traditions, such as the drumming and rhythms of West Africa, while the Spanish introduced various musical instruments and traditions, such as the guitar and the Andalusian copla. The fusion of African and Spanish music, along with other influences such as jazz and Cuban son, gave rise to Puerto Rican salsa.
